Memorial Day is almost here!

Try some of these fun Memorial Day Snack ideas!

Berry Kabobs – Cute and healthy patriotic snack for a Memorial Day picnic. Would also be great served with a chocolate fondue!

American Flag Cake – Ingredients: 1 vanilla cake mix (eggs, water and butter), 1 container of vanilla frosting, 2 cups of strawberries, cut in quarters ½ cup of blueberries. Directions: Using either a store-bought cake mix or your own recipe, bake a vanilla cake according to the directions given. Once the cake has cooled, frost the entire cake with vanilla frosting. Make a square in the upper left hand corner using blueberries. Create the lines of the American flag by placing the quarter pieces of strawberries next to one another in horizontal lines.

Red, White, and Blue Parfaits – For a sweet Memorial Day dessert that isn’t packed with calories, try this pretty parfait. Fresh blueberries and strawberries layered between low-fat vanilla yogurt add easy festive flair to this patriotic dessert.

Kid Activities – Springtime

Are your kids ready for some springtime fun!


Try doing some of these fun activities with the kids.

1. Camp out
Spend a night outdoors in your own backyard! Pitch a tent, make a small fire pit and maybe even roast some marshmallows.

2. Have a treasure hunt
Hide a small toy in your backyard and give your child a treasure map to help them find the treasure.

3. Grow something you can eat
Pick out a fruit or vegetable that you can plant from a seed and nurture it together. Try tomatoes, beets or strawberry’s.

4. Go to a farmer’s market
The markets provide countless opportunities to teach kids and they might even want to try a new vegetable.

5. Eat outside together
With the weather getting nicer everyday its now the perfect time to plan a picnic in the backyard or in the park.
